Stephen Slater
Stephen Slater is an international English Language author and educator.
Education and Academic Positions in the UK
Born and educated in England, at the universities of Birmingham, Essex and London, Stephen taught English in Denmark and then in the UK where he was a senior lecturer in EAL (English as an Additional Language) at a higher education college. He was also a teacher trainer for the Cambridge Diploma in English Language Teaching to Adults program until 1988 when he moved to Australia to take up a senior management role at the University of South Australia.
Academic Positions – Australia and Japan
Until 1998 Stephen was Associate Director, Centre for Applied Linguistics, in the Faculty of Education, at the University of South Australia, teaching on post-graduate TESOL programs and in charge of academic publications. In 2000 he took up the position of Professor of English at Heian Jogakuin University, Osaka, Japan, returning to Australia in 2004 to focus on writing, publishing and teaching.
Publications
Throughout the 1980s and '90s Stephen was writing for Cambridge University Press, Cambridge, UK, and has co-authored more than 10 books with CUP, including True to Life, Cambridge Skills for Fluency, and Literature in the Language Classroom, which was runner-up in the English Speaking Union's Duke of Edinburgh's awards in 1988. In Australia, he has edited and co-written a number of IELTS books, including the IELTS on Track series. He continues to write English language books for international publishers.
IELTS
Stephen's association with IELTS goes back nearly 20 years, when he was instrumental in securing the IELTS Test Centre at the University of South Australia. Since then he has been an IELTS Administrator, IELTS researcher and IELTS assessor. He continues to teach, deliver workshops, and tutor students and professionals from many countries who are planning to take the IELTS test.

Donna Millen
Education
Born and raised in Canada, Donna's interest in language and culture began at a young age, travelling to Europe and studying in Switzerland and France. After obtaining a Masters Degree in French Language and Literature, she spent several years teaching at secondary and college level in Canada and Latin America before moving to Australia.
Academic positions and Publications
From 1986 to 2001 Donna coordinated English Language Programs at the University of South Australia, working with immigrant and international students. Her areas of expertise include English for Health Professionals, Critical Thinking and IELTS preparation. During that time she co-authored three books, On Examination, a preparation for the Australian Occupational English Test and the IELTS on Track series.
Currently
Donna now lives on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada, tutoring, working on environmental projects and supporting a Poverty Reduction Program based in Laos .
